Powered lumbar support is a narrow independent section inside the back-support platform. A dedicated actuator changes its height or contour beneath the sleeper's waist while the main head and leg sections retain their own movement.
Head lift changes the posture of the upper body. Lumbar lift changes the support under one concentrated area. A high-spec quotation should never confuse the two.
Head lift and lumbar lift are different
| Function | What moves | Purpose in the product |
|---|---|---|
| Head/back adjustment | The full upper-body platform | Changes reading, resting or television posture |
| Leg adjustment | The lower platform | Raises the legs and changes lower-body position |
| Powered lumbar | A smaller section beneath the lower back | Adds targeted, adjustable waist support |
The DEPY SH100 powered-lumbar configuration
The confirmed SH100 powered-lumbar specification uses three OKIN JLDQ.19 linear actuators: one for the head/back section, one for the leg section and one for the independent lumbar section. Vibration massage can be combined with this configuration as an option. Sleep monitoring is a separate option and is not included automatically with lumbar support.
SH100 is the current DEPY bed-base family with a confirmed powered-lumbar project option. SG100 and SP100 should not be quoted with powered lumbar unless a new technical specification is separately developed and confirmed.
Why motor count alone is not enough
Three motors can describe different layouts in the wider adjustable-bed market. One product may use the third motor for lumbar support; another may use it for an independent split head section. The purchase order must name the function of every drive, not only state “3 motors.”
Within DEPY's split-platform code system, a “-3” configuration can describe independent left and right head sections with a shared leg section. The SH100 powered-lumbar version is a different three-actuator arrangement: head, leg and lumbar. The functional description and approved drawing control the order.
Controls and electrical system
The quoted overseas SH100 configuration can use the corresponding OKIN control system, RF remote and Bluetooth app control. Exact remote, control-box, power-supply and Bluetooth-module part numbers are confirmed on the final bill of materials. The buyer should also confirm destination voltage, frequency, plug and app availability.
Five questions for the supplier
- Does the lumbar section move independently from the backrest?
- Which actuator controls head, leg and lumbar movement?
- Can the lumbar configuration also include vibration massage?
- Which functions are available from the remote and which require an app?
- Is sleep sensing included, optional or unavailable?
