Configuration guide

2, 3 or 4 drives: what actually changes?

The number is useful only when it is tied to the exact movement functions—not treated as a simple good, better, best ranking.

Direct answer

In DEPY's split-configuration ordering codes, -2 means shared head/leg movement, -3 means independent left/right head sections with shared legs, and -4 means independent head and leg movement on both sides. A different SH100 three-actuator layout uses head, leg and powered lumbar—so function always controls the meaning.

More drives do not automatically make a product more suitable. The right question is what each actuator moves.

The configuration map

SuffixDrivesHead sectionLeg sectionBest understood as
-22Full width moves togetherFull width moves togetherOne shared adjustable surface
-33Left and right move independentlyShared across the full widthIndependent head comfort for two sleepers
-44Left and right move independentlyLeft and right move independentlyTwo complete movement zones in one bed

Motor count is not the complete specification

The table above describes DEPY's split codes. SH100 also has a powered-lumbar configuration that uses three OKIN JLDQ.19 actuators for full-width head/back, leg and an independent lumbar section. That is not the same product architecture as the -3 independent-head split.

A buyer should always confirm the movement drawing, functional wording and control layout—not only “three motors.” See the powered lumbar guide for the SH100 layout.

-2: standard shared motion

The standard configuration uses one drive path for the full-width head section and one for the full-width leg section. When the head moves, the complete upper surface changes angle together. The same principle applies to the lower section.

This format is appropriate when unified operation is acceptable, when the product is used by one person, or when a business buyer wants the simplest movement story in the collection.

-3: independent head sections

The head area is divided into left and right sections, each with its own drive. The leg area remains shared. Two sleepers can therefore select different upper-body positions without creating two completely separate lower zones.

This is useful when independent reading or resting positions are more important than fully independent leg movement. Commercial copy should call it “independent head split,” not simply “split,” because the lower section remains shared.

-4: full left-right split

The bed is divided into two movement zones. Each side has an independently controlled head section and leg section. One sleeper's adjustments do not have to determine the other side's position.

The full-split configuration is the clearest choice when a couple wants maximum position independence. It also requires the buyer to confirm how the mattress surface, upholstery, controls and installation should support two complete zones.

Why the drive component matters

All confirmed SG100, SP100 and SH100 configurations use DewertOkin OKIN JLDQ.19 single drives. The technical reference lists a maximum push force of 6,000 N, a no-load speed of 42 mm/s and 24–29 V DC operation. These are component specifications; final bed performance still depends on the complete structure, load, installation and control system.

The confirmed platform articulation ranges are 0–70° at the head and 0–40° at the leg section. Mattress-surface angles can differ slightly because the mattress bends over the moving platform.

How a buyer should choose

  • Choose -2 when unified movement is sufficient and simplicity is the priority.
  • Choose -3 split when two sleepers need separate upper-body positions but can share leg movement.
  • Choose -4 when both sleepers need independent head and leg positioning.
  • Choose the SH100 lumbar layout when independent lower-back support matters.
  • Confirm the complete functional description in every quotation and purchase order.

The suffix convention is specific to the DEPY product structure described here. Other suppliers may use different naming, and an actuator count alone is never a complete model definition.

Specify the movement before discussing the finish.

Send the required functions, size and quantity; DEPY will map them to the correct layout.
