Buyer comparison

Adjustable base or integrated adjustable mattress?

Both create powered articulation. The better choice depends on product presentation, channel strategy, installation and the specifications the buyer wants to control.

Direct answer

Choose an adjustable bed base when the movement platform should remain a distinct component and the buyer wants to pair it with a compatible mattress. Choose an integrated adjustable mattress when the powered structure should be presented inside one complete mattress-format product.

The two formats solve the same basic movement problem, but they create different products for the showroom, project room and supply chain.

When an adjustable base makes sense

An exposed adjustable base is useful when the buyer wants the motion platform to remain a distinct product. This can support mattress choice, replacement flexibility and a clear explanation of the mechanical structure.

The DEPY base collection also creates three sourcing positions. SG100 is a standardized carbon-steel platform with fixed dimensions. SP100 adds market-specific size customization. SH100 provides a reinforced, leather-wrapped flagship direction with a thicker support deck and noise-conscious construction.

All three families can be specified with standard, independent-head or full-split movement.

When an integrated mattress makes sense

DM100 is relevant when the buyer wants the room or retail display to show one finished mattress rather than an exposed platform with a separate mattress above it. The movement story still has three configurations, but comfort layers and articulation must be treated as one product discussion.

This format may create a stronger visual distinction in a catalogue, but it also means the buyer should not assume that a separate mattress can be selected independently from the internal movement structure.

Think about the sales channel

Brands and distributors

Consider how sales teams will demonstrate the movement, explain model codes, manage spare parts and present compatibility. A base can make component structure easy to explain; an integrated mattress can make the finished product easier to visualize.

Hospitality and senior-living projects

Confirm room appearance, cleaning access, installation route, control simplicity, service access and replacement planning. Product selection should follow the project brief rather than a retail feature list.

Furniture retail

Showroom footprint, demonstration time, mattress pairing and how the product looks when flat can matter as much as the maximum articulation angle.

Six questions before requesting a quotation

  1. Should the adjustable mechanism be visible as a separate platform?
  2. Will the buyer supply or select a separate compatible mattress?
  3. Does the target user need unified, independent-head or full-split movement?
  4. Are fixed international sizes acceptable, or is centimetre-level customization required?
  5. How will the product be displayed, installed and serviced in the destination market?
  6. What quantity, branding and delivery schedule define the project?

Neither format is automatically more advanced. The correct choice is the one that aligns movement, product presentation, service and commercial requirements.
