The word “massage” does not make an adjustable bed equivalent to a massage chair. If a bed specifies vibration massage, start with that function; the label does not establish moving rollers, kneading or air compression. Massage chairs also differ in mechanism and configuration, so compare the exact models on both sides.
Ask what moves, not just whether it has massage
“Vibration massage” does not describe the same function as an explicit specification for rollers, kneading or air compression. If you expect localized movement or pressure around your shoulders and back, ask whether the model has the corresponding mechanism rather than assuming the massage label includes it.
Do not treat all massage chairs as one architecture or assume that every adjustable bed offers vibration only. Read the exact model's instructions and feature list, and watch a demonstration of its mechanism. This guide concerns bed configurations explicitly described as vibration massage.
Back lift, leg lift, powered lumbar and vibration massage should also be confirmed separately. The number of positioning actuators does not establish the number, strength or coverage of massage functions. See the movement-zone checklist.
Try the mattress combination you plan to buy
Watching an empty base operate, or trying a different mattress combination, is not enough to establish your experience of the quoted configuration. Ask the seller to confirm the mattress, support arrangement and options, then try that combination as directed in its instructions.
Start with massage off and compare lying flat with the positions you need. Then switch massage on separately and note whether you like the sensation. If the model supports intensity, zone or timer selection, try those controls; ask about undocumented features instead of assuming they are present.
Feeling vibration and enjoying it are different judgments. No single trial result can stand in for everyone's preferences, and mattress thickness alone does not establish which setup will feel stronger or more comfortable.
Three situations that help set expectations
You want kneading around your shoulders and back
Suppose you want localized kneading but the candidate bed lists vibration massage only. Confirm whether the required mechanism exists before comparing further. Two products using the word massage are not automatically interchangeable.
You enjoy it, but your partner wants quiet rest
Suppose one sleeper likes vibration while the other wants to rest quietly. Try the same setup together and record both felt vibration and audible sound. Ask whether massage can be switched off separately and whether any documented zone control is available. Independent positioning does not automatically mean massage cannot affect the other sleeper.
You simply want another comfort option
If you enjoy the actual trial and expect to use it regularly, include the corresponding option in the quotation. If you dislike the sensation or mainly need back and leg adjustment, leaving massage out is also reasonable. These are hypothetical buying situations, not customer stories or evidence of outcomes.
Write down four things before leaving
- Mechanism: is it vibration or another clearly documented mechanism? Does the demonstration match the feature list?
- Pairing: are the quoted mattress, base and options the same as the setup you tried?
- Experience: are sound and vibration acceptable to both users? Use the listening-trial guide.
- Options and support: is massage included in the price? Which controls, timers or zones are documented? What component coverage and service arrangements apply?
A useful enquiry is: “Please identify this model's massage mechanism, demonstrate it with the quoted mattress, and specify the included functions, controls and service terms.”
How to confirm a DEPY configuration
The current DEPY SH100 description states that vibration massage can be added to its three-actuator powered-lumbar layout; non-contact sleep monitoring is a separate option. This also shows that massage is not exclusive to integrated adjustable mattresses. Whether it is included in your purchase depends on the exact configuration and quotation, not a claim that every DEPY model has it as standard.
This guide makes no claim that vibration massage treats insomnia, pain or other conditions. Separate the demonstrable movement, your preferences and the written terms when choosing a product.

DEPY's current SH100 product description and base-versus-integrated-mattress guide were checked on 21 October 2026. The Ergomotion Europe official FAQ, archived on 12 October and reviewed for this update, discusses sound during massage operation. It informs listening questions only; its specifications, normal-sound judgments and service advice do not establish those of DEPY.
